Finally! Last sunday I showed the first sneakpeek (on my Social Media) of a new product. Now it can finally be released. After lots of tests, (desk)research and design hours I have decided to design my own shirts. Here is the first design! I worked really hard on this project and for a long time, but the first design is finally here :D.
To push myself into making more designs I wanted to set a date for an Etsy shop update. I wanted to upload 10 new items at once. It pushed me to create more items, which felt very good. The more I make, the better I become. And the more I make, the more there is to choose from. It was fun to set a date and to work towards that date to lance a new collection of unique items. Maybe I will redo this concept in the future to make sure I make new designs for sale :).Lees verder/continue reading
I love the beginning of spring. Days get longer and night shorter. The earth awakens and all the flowers get to grow. I made this Ostara illustration. It was nice to be able to finish a full color illustration again. I enjoyed making it :).Lees verder/continue reading
The Rowan tree is a real witches tree. The Rowan tree has long been known for being a magickal tree. It’s has an important role in many mythology and folklore stories.
The Rowan tree is a great protector, it protects against bad luck & evil. It has been used for many years to make walking sticks and magician's staves, as well as Druid staffs and wands. Even today is is still one of the most sought after woods for wands and amulets. It is believed to help psychic abilities and connections. If you look at the berries when you remove them from the stick you will notice the pentacle symbol where they were attached.
Technically we don’t have a Rowan tree in our garden, but our neighbours do. It’s in their front yard and most branches overlap to our side. I don’t mind at all, I think it’s a wonderful tree. It’s not a very big one, but it is absolutely a pretty one. It’s also very handy because I have Rowan berries and leaves within reach.
This year I participated again with inktober. During October I tried to make an ink illustration each day. Because I had some important deadlines in October, I already new an illustration each day wouldn't be possible, but I gave it my best shot :).
I knew I wanted to work with a theme again and I already knew the theme for a long time. On Pinterest I collected lots of information about witchy themes. With Pinterest Boards as 'Stones & Meaning' and ‘Plants, Flowers & Herbs’ my theme for this year was 'Witchy Vibes', focusing on 'everything magical.' I also found some interesting books that formed the base of my information resources. For example ‘The Green Witch’ & ‘The illustrated Herbiary'.
At the moment the weather in the Netherlands is more Summer than Autumn, but it's officially Autumn. That means warm cups of tea, blankets and good books, falling leaves in wonderful colors and Halloween. I thought it was a good idea to buy some Autumn home decor for our house.
A few weeks ago we went to Deutschland. We were in the Eiffel, what a beautiful place! Dense forests and untouched nature, absolutely stunning! I already suspected the place to be beautiful, so I took some jewelry designs and my camera with me.
I thought it would be fun to experiment a bit more with photographing my jewelry designs in natural surroundings. The forest was a perfect place for that experiment. I wanted to create a magical, mysterious atmosphere, with a slightly dark touch/lightning.
I am not a photographer, but I find photography and the creating of images and photo’s really interesting. Especially when I can manage to photograph in a style that identifies me and my company.Lees verder/continue reading
No matter if you have a creative job or an office job, everyone needs time for themselves. Lots of creative people I know, are also nature lovers. The nature is a perfect place to find some piece and quite. Empty and order the thoughts in your head to make room for creative new ideas. I love finding my inner self in nature. And when I am walking through nature anyway, I can make some pics :D. Nature is a huge inspiration source for all my work, so enough inspiration to find.
