This year I participated again with inktober. During October I tried to make an ink illustration each day. Because I had some important deadlines in October, I already new an illustration each day wouldn't be possible, but I gave it my best shot :).
I knew I wanted to work with a theme again and I already knew the theme for a long time. On Pinterest I collected lots of information about witchy themes. With Pinterest Boards as 'Stones & Meaning' and ‘Plants, Flowers & Herbs’ my theme for this year was 'Witchy Vibes', focusing on 'everything magical.' I also found some interesting books that formed the base of my information resources. For example ‘The Green Witch’ & ‘The illustrated Herbiary'.
I really enjoyed working with this theme. It was pretty cool to improve my knowledge about the spiritual backgrounds of different crystals, herbs and other magical items.
At the beginning I scanned my illustrations. That way I was able to make the backgrounds bright white. And then my computer crashed. From that moment I had to improvise, so I started photographing my illustrations the same way I photograph my jewelry. It is a different look, but I like the magical feeling/vibe that it gives to the whole picture.
This year I didn't work with a limitation of colors (like last year). Most of the illustrations are quite colorful. I also love the light-path I got at the beginning of this year. I can just slide my sketch underneath my water color paper and I am ready to make the final illustration. It prevents a lot of erasing pencil lines.
Within the month October I was able to make 17 ink illustrations. Some are simple, some more detailed. Even though Inktober is over I would like to continue working with this theme.
